Adding a Clear Scan Task¶
The Clear scan task is a standard scanning mode used for weather radar operations. This mode allows for flexible configuration of various scanning parameters to suit specific observational needs.
This guide outlines the fields required to add and configure a Clear scan task.
Required Fields¶
Name - Description: Unique identifier for the scan task. - Type: Text input
Scan Mode - Description: Defines the scanning geometry. - Options: - PPI (Plan Position Indicator) - PPIF (Plan Position Indicator Fixed) - RHI (Range Height Indicator)
Pulse Width - Description: Sets the duration of the transmitted pulse. - Type: Numerical input (µs)
PRF (Pulse Repetition Frequency) - Description: Sets the number of pulses transmitted per second. - Type: Numerical input (Hz)
Resolution - Description: Sets the range resolution. - Type: Numerical input (meters)
Elevation Angles - Description: Specifies the list of elevation angles for the scan. - Interface: Options box allowing you to: - Add numbers - Sort entries - Delete entries
Sector Start / Sector End - Description: Defines the azimuth sector to scan. - Type: Numerical input (degrees)
Scan Speed - Description: Rotation speed of the antenna. - Type: Numerical input (°/s)
Quantities - Description: Selects the radar data quantities to record. - Interface: Edit button (pencil icon) opens a checklist: - T - Z - V - W - SQI - RHOHV - PHID - KDP - ZDR
Polarization - Description: Selects the radar signal polarization. - Options: - Horizontal - Vertical - Simultaneous
Processing - Description: Configures the radar signal processing method. - Options: - FFT - DPRT
Unfold - Description: Velocity dealiasing method. - Options: - None - 3:2 - 4:3 - 5:4
Clutter Filter - Description: Applies clutter filtering. - Options: 0 - 7
Pulses - Description: Number of pulses to process. - Type: Numerical input
Max Range - Description: Maximum scanning range. - Type: Numerical input (meters)
Bin Spacing - Description: Distance between range bins. - Type: Numerical input (meters)
DP Atten. Correction - Description: Dual-polarization attenuation correction. - Options: - Enabled - Disabled
Mask Settings¶
The following mask types are available and share the same checklist items:
- T Mask
- Description: Threshold masking settings.
- Z Mask
- Description: Z masking settings.
- V Mask
- Description: Velocity masking settings.
- W Mask
- Description: Width masking settings.
- Dual Pole Mask
- Description: Dual-polarization data masking settings.
Interface:
Each mask type uses an Edit button (pencil icon) to open a checklist containing the following items: - CSR (Clutter suppression ratio) - LOG (Logarithmic filter setting) - REF (Reflectivity setting) - RHOHV (Correlation coefficient) - SIG (Signal quality) - SNR (Signal to noise ratio) - SQI (Signal Quality Index)
